THE ADVANTAGE!!

Because we are an outside group, HS coaches have access to their players throughout the entirety of the league to practice, etc. SCHSL returning rules are in play. Below are the rules outlined by SCHSL regarding Outside Competition.

PER SCHSL RULES AND REGULATIONS

Out of Season (Competition Rules)

During the out of season period, no school shall allow competition(s) that involve(s) the coach(es) and/or players except:

  1. If a coach from a school (including volunteer coaches)is associated with an outside team of an outside South Carolina High School League, no more than the number of allowable starters listed below (Softball = 9) may be on the roster of the outside team. This restriction applies to all students who were included on the school’s certificate of eligibility and dressed for a varsity game during the previous season. Students with no remaining eligibility will not count. There is no limit on the number of students from the same school if there is no coach involved from that school. Also, there is no restriction on baseball or softball during the months of May, June, and July as it pertains to the allowable starters rule.

**Games will be played on weekday nights only – no weekends. The aim is to shoot for Monday - Wednesday with makeup games on Thursday. (rainouts and field availability will determine much of our schedule).**

**Opening week will be no earlier than September 1 and the league will run for 8 weeks with teams playing once a week, perhaps twice. The last week of the regular season will end in the first week of November, possibly the 2nd week in November…that really depends on field availability and weather, as always.**

**Teams will play a minimum of 7 games, however the goal is 8 games. The exact number depends on the eventual amount of clubs in a given league, available sites, plus weather.**

**Teams are allowed to have players from multiple high schools**

**Some High Schools may be required to have 2 or more teams depending on how many returning Varsity players and total players sign up for your team. Please be prepared to have multiple teams.**

PFL will:

  • Handle all scheduling of games and umpires
  • Handle payment of jersey tops, umpires and game balls
  • Secure League/Team insurance

TEAMS will:

  • Teams will not be included into the master schedule until confirmed participation by coach to Division Commissioner.
  • Inform commissioner if your field will be a host site.
  • Provide PFL commissioner with two contact names/numbers for your team(s).
  • Teams must have a minimum of 12 players, Desired roster is 13-15
  • Provide own equipment (BP balls, helmets, catching gear, etc)
  • Chase foul balls on your half of the field
  • Make sure the field is cut, dragged and lined off
  • Have option of running concession stand and keeping 100% of the profit
  • Make ruling as to whether a field is playable or not. If a game must be canceled, contact the PFL commissioner for that league.

Rules:

  • Each team will have no less than 12 players per team. Desired roster size is 12-15.
  • There is no run rule. This league is based on player development
  • 2 hour 10 minute time limit on single games; no new inning past that point. Bottom half must be played if home team is trailing
  • There will be a limit of seven hitters per inning.
  • Pre-game coin flip between coaches will determine home/visiting team
  • Free substitution, provided it does not compromise the order of the lineup
  • Mandatory courtesy runner for catchers with 2 outs
  • Teams are allowed 10 minute pre-game INF/OF if your game is the only game that night at a site. Games must begin on time.

Keep the games moving: catching up pitcher, hustling on/off the field, limit time on mound visits, arguing calls, etc. The purpose of this league is letting players play as much softball as possible for their development.
